Playfair Cipher
Use digraph substitution with the Playfair cipher and its 5x5 letter grid.
How to Use Playfair Cipher
- Enter or edit a keyword to build the 5x5 key square.
- Letters are uppercased, J is merged with I, repeated letters in a pair are separated with X, and an odd final letter is padded with X.
- Encode uses right shifts for a shared row, down shifts for a shared column, and opposite rectangle columns otherwise.
- Use Decode with the same keyword to reverse the row and column shifts.
